Grande Idea I really hope works.

Posted on November 24, 2009 at 9:57 PM

SoI have this grand idea that might be outrageous but is kind of needed.

I want to create a videoish thing on how to jump judge cross country fences.

Finding judges is a such a major part of eventing and well without them theshow can not go on. finding experienced judges is even more difficult.

I have been searching the web for a few days now and have found nothing videowise and the only thing I found printed was very very good but too many of therules were Pony club, and European in the way they do some of their things. Ihad Mary go over it and there were just too many things that we needed toremove to make it relevant for us.

Sooooo

I thought of a video. Only problem is that to create a video on how to judge weneed video clips of people making mistakes. lol most of us delete that stuffbut if you have any video clips of you stopping at a fence - cross country orstadium - I would absolutely love it if I could use it.

Now I will be making this available to other cross country courses as it isjust as important to them as it is to Island 22 and I might post it on thewebsite - not sure on that yet. It will definitely be made available to ourjudges via email or on the website.

It will also have to be approved by Mary Swanson - the rules guru - and a fewTD's will have to agree that it is correct.

These refusals can be from a real event or from training days - it doesntmatter. I wont print any names of riders or horses anywhere and will do my bestto make sure there is no sound at all in this video so just in case yourtrainer is talking or bad words fall out of your mouth at the refusal (not thatany of us ever says anything bad when our horses stops.) It doesnt matter ifyou are on a pony or a horse. One of the big hard to judge ones is your horsegoing sideways or playing poka infront of the fence. It is very important forjudges to know how to score this.

If you are game and dont mind all of the above please email your clips to

island22website@yahoo.ca

In the MVI formate if possible. Basically one of the formates that works with Microsoft player as I am going to be using the Microsoft movie maker program to do this.

And thank you ahead of time.

Have a wonderful, safe and warm winter season!
